You won't go hungry or thirsty at Artevelde UAS. You can always visit one of our student restaurants or cafeterias for a tasty and budget-friendly warm meal, soup, or sandwich. Affordable food with attention to sustainability, that is what we like to put on the menu at Artevelde UAS.
Student restaurant De Kantiene
At De Kantiene, we go for tasty and healthy food at democratic student rates: a main dish for instance costs only € 5.30. Additionally, you will find pastas there, sandwiches and salads. And of course you can get tap water for free.
Like any other UAS that cares about sustainability, we choose local and ecological fair-trade products whenever possible. Every day, we have dishes for vegetarians, our salad bar is 100 % vegan, and we also have some vegan sandwiches on the menu.
Opening hours
De Kantiene reopens on Monday 18 September 2023.
On weekdays from 8 to 14:30 (warm meals between 11:30 and 13:45). During exam periods from 8:30 until 14:00. You then order veggie before 10:30 via 1446.be@sodexo.com.

Most of our salads and sandwiches are lactose-free. Gluten-free sandwiches can be ordered before 10:00 by mail to: dekantiene.be@sodexo.com.

As a student at Artevelde UAS, you also have access to the student restaurants of HoGent, Odisee and Universiteit Gent. You will usually pay a little more than the students of that educational institution, but you can still eat at a rather low price.
Let's save food automaten
In Flanders, every year, we throw away up to two tons of food, even if it is still perfectly good to eat. Painful, if you know that thousands of people are living in poverty and cannot even afford food. Moreover, food waste means loss of energy and water, and as such has a negative effect on the environment.
Artevelde UAS wants to help to avoid food waste, and so you will find the 'saving machines' of Let's save food on some of our campuses. In these machines you will find food that otherwise would be thrown away, and which you can buy cheaply. With our support to this social and ecological project, as a UAS we make an effort for a more sustainable society.

Important to know
All the food in the machines is still good and safe to eat. On the packaging, you will see that the'tht-date' (tht = best before) has passed, but there is absolutely no danger to your health. You can eat this food without getting ill, but the colour, taste, and vitamins may no longer be of the best quality.
Where do these products come from?
Stores and wholesalers that have an excess of food give their food away to Let’s save food. Next, they divide it over several machines. Not only the food gets a longer life, the machines were recycled too.
