Room for connection and growth: inclusive use of space

Research theme

A good physical and social environment are a powerful means to achieve an inclusive and uniting society. That is what we collaborate on through this research programme. We start from the needs of a perfect organisation, local government, neighbourhood, or target group(s) and strengthen those related to inclusion and connection. On the one hand, we focus on the social and physical environment, and on the other hand on personal and social development. In this way, we build an inclusive and uniting society, in which diversity is an asset, and everybody finds their place.

Setting to work together to strengthen your target group(s)

What are we researching and for whom?

Building an inclusive and uniting society, in which diversity is an asset? That is what we work on together!
In co-creative research, we set to work with the needs that your organisation or board is struggling with. Based on our partnership, we want to provide an answer to the needs of the target groups which you as an organisation collaborate with, in order to strengthen these organisations. We apply two possible approaches to realise this strengthening.

  1. Enhancing inclusion by interacting with the social environment

  1. Realising more personal and social development of your target group

Even though these two research lines each have their own focus, they are not always separate from each other. They can interact and enhance one another.

Desired outcome

Through interaction with the social and physical environment, or by focusing on the social and personal development, we believe we achieve a more inclusive and connected society in which everyone (regardless of what target group they belong to) can find their place.

By means of our participative method, we offer you an insight into the needs of your target group(s) and how you can set to work with these preventively.

Research lines

The expertise in this line of expertise consists of two central themes that interact and that strengthen one another.

Working on an inclusive environment

Inclusieve omgeving

Starting from the needs of neighbourhoods and/or organisations, how can we interfere with the public and semi-public sphere, and as such contribute to inclusion and solidarity?

Stimulate development

Kinderen stimuleren tot ontwikkelen

What support can we offer children, youths, and adults to achieve more personal and social development?
